South East Asia
The Southeast Asia region stretches from Myanmar to Vietnam and includes the island nations of the South Pacific including Australia. We give highest priority to projects in the largest urban centers of Southeast Asia. Specifically, we focus our granting in the following cities: Bangkok, Cebu, Davao, Jakarta, Jogjakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Malang, Melbourne, Surabaya, and Sydney. The average granting size in this region is $6,200.
The most successful applications have significant financial support and accountability from the church, are in an urban area, and have a creative and innovative approach to share the love of Jesus Christ in word and action. We give priority to small, dynamic start-up initiatives that plan to become locally managed or sustained. We do not provide grant for an ongoing projects that began more than three years ago.
The Foundation will only fund up to 50 percent of the total cost of any given project. Therefore, organizations that are heavily funded from outside their local community and have little church support are less likely to receive significant funding. Because of our emphasis on partnering with the local church, if the applicant is a parachurch organization, we require that it must have a strong financial support from a local church that actually adopts such a project.
In Southeast Asia, the Foundation encourages initiatives that send missionaries to the least evangelized nations for cross-cultural missions, outreaches to youth through holistic youth development programs, church planting, empowerment of church members through micro-savings and revolving loan fund, micro-enterprise development programs, establishment of urban poor day care centers, and variety of discipleship training programs to upgrade the knowledge and skills of church leaders and workers. Although we fund a wide variety of projects, the goal is to help our applicants actively demonstrate the gospel to the broader society.
